It is lightly mineralized at just 0.28 g/kg of dissolved solids, so the water reads gentle rather than assertive — yet a weak hydrogen sulfide note lifts off it at the source, the tell-tale of the sulfide ion the certificate records. The headline number is the pH: 9.6 at the wellhead, strongly alkaline, which gives the pronounced slippery feel that places it in Japan's beauty-water family, reinforced by 52 mg/kg of metasilicic acid. In the bath the water itself is colorless, clear and tasteless.
