Shisuien is a ryokan in a quiet mountain valley in Shunan, Yamaguchi, in the Yuno hot-spring area. Guests bathe in a large indoor hall and in separate outdoor rotenburo for men and women, plus a jet bath; a few room types also have their own hinoki (檜) tub, usable any time. The spring water is clear and almost scentless, with just a trace of sulfur, and is known locally as a skin-smoothing spring. Day-use bathing is open to non-guests, no reservation needed. The inn is built around a Japanese garden with a stream diverted into the grounds, and rooms look out over the seasonal planting.
