A small inn with four guest rooms at Tokusa Onsen, a spring town that dates its history back some 1,200 years. The inn's own bath is a rock bath (iwaburo, 岩風呂) with a stone tub, filled with natural onsen water, and it is used by men and women in alternating time slots. A communal open-air bath on the riverbank is a short walk away. The food is the other draw: dinner is built around iwana char (イワナ), grilled over the hearth and served in several ways. Rooms are plain, in the style of a minshuku, and the place is quiet. The inn closes for the winter, from mid-November to the end of March.
