Shima Grand Hotel

Shima Grand Hotel is a hot-spring hotel in Shima onsen, Gunma, fed by its own source that runs fresh through the baths around the clock. The showpiece is a hinoki open-air bath built like a noh stage, next to two barrel-shaped rotenburo and a wave-shaped indoor bath, with a boat-shaped stone tub among them and a drinking fountain at the entrance. Some rooms have their own half-open-air bath fed by the same water. The baths run mild rather than hot, good for a long soak, with mountains, forest and a river around the property.
