A day-use bathhouse in the Showa neighborhood of Hakodate, the kind of place locals drop into rather than travelers seek out. The indoor bath has two pools at different temperatures, and there is an open-air rotenburo outside, a dry sauna, a cold plunge, a jet bath that doubles as a reclining bath, and an utaseyu waterfall bath. A restaurant sits next to the rest area for a meal before or after. The water is a clear, faintly green chloride spring that tastes distinctly salty.
