A simple riverside inn on the Tadami River in Mishima, Fukushima. The baths are on the ground floor, separate for men and women, each with one indoor bath and a few washing stations with shampoo and body soap. The spring flows up on its own (自噴, jifun). The water looks clear, though the tub takes on a reddish-dark tint, and bathers say it leaves the skin smooth. Day visitors are welcome in the afternoon. The building feels like the Showa era: rooms upstairs, a lobby and dining room below, shared toilets, and a lot of self-service. The Tadami River runs right outside, and it is quiet enough that you mostly hear the water. Aizu-Miyashita Station on the Tadami line is about a 15 minute walk. Shops are far, so bring what you need.
