About

Iwakura Hot Spring (岩倉温泉, Iwakura Onsen) has been running since 1647 and is a member of the Nihon Hito wo Mamoru Kai (日本秘湯を守る会), the society that looks after Japan's lesser-known springs. The baths are indoor only, fed by a kakenagashi flow of clear, colorless water that locals say warms you through and helps you sleep, earning it the nickname Fukai Nemuri no Yu (深い眠りの湯, deep-sleep spring). A small stream runs right outside the building. The inn took serious flood damage in 2020 and was repaired; the okamisan (innkeeper) kept it going. Day use is available.
