Onyuyado Nakaya (御湯宿 中屋) has been drawing spring water from a limestone cave behind the inn for some 400 years. The main baths use a clear, mildly sulfurous kakenagashi spring. The large indoor bath includes a lying bath and half-body bath alongside a low-temperature sauna, while the roofless open-air bath looks straight out over the Tanigawa range through all four seasons. Some rooms come with their own private open-air baths, fed by either the main spring or a separate source used exclusively for those rooms.
