Kusanoyu

Kusanoyu (草ノ湯) is a wild, unmanaged hot spring (yanoyu, 野湯) in the Hachimantai mountains of Iwate. There is no bathhouse or facility of any kind, just the spring itself in open mountain terrain. Getting here requires hiking in from the Mt. Hachimantai summit side, around 6.4 km on foot. The water runs lukewarm. This is the kind of place mentioned in mountaineering magazines alongside the other wild springs of the Hachimantai area.
