Kawachi

Kawachi is a small ryokan beside the Tadami River in Yanaizu, Fukushima, with an indoor bath and an open-air bath scented with hinoki (檜), Japanese cypress, that fills the evening air along with the sound of the stream. The spring water rises from the grounds of Fukuman Kokuzoson (福満虚空藏尊), the temple Yanaizu grew up around more than 1,200 years ago, and it feels lightly salty on the skin. Guest rooms and the upstairs terrace look out over the river and its red arch bridge. Visitors keep coming back for the warm, personal service and home-style Aizu cooking.
