The Bandaiko source of Kusatsu Onsen feeds the near-side tub of Goza no Yu's Ki-no-Yu bathhouse. At pH 1.7 this is sharply acidic water — enough to prickle on contact — and it emerges at 94.6 °C, placing it among Japan's hottest natural sources, with sulfate and chloride as the dominant anions. Metasilicic acid at 528 mg/kg leaves the kind of thin silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother, and the bathhouse panel lists the water as documented for neuralgia, joint pain, bruises, sprains, burns, chronic digestive complaints, chronic gynecological conditions and skin condition. It is served as untreated free-flow: no dilution, no heating, no recirculation and no disinfection.

806. Gozanoyu, Kusatsu Onsen, Gunma ★★ Onsen for ¥900. Opening hours are listed as 07:00 to 21:00. The baths are switched between men and women. Included in the Kusatsu tegata postcard. Wooden baths. Two baths, each divided by a log. The water in the baths comes from different sources. The water is clear. In terms of temperature, the nearer bath is 44, the farther bath is 42.5. It is easy to breathe inside, and it was cool in winter. A cool place, recommended for a visit. For fans, two days are enough to try both bath options. 15.01.2026

And the last, third onsen in the set of "main Kusatsu ones" — Goza-no-Yu. Here there are two baths from two of Kusatsu's main sources, including from the Yubatake itself. All in a very atmospheric wooden room with high ceilings.
