Kawauchi no Yu (かわうちの湯) is a day-use bathhouse (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) in the hills of Kawauchi village. It has two bath rooms that swap between men and women each day, so the layout differs from visit to visit. Between them are an open-air bath, bubble and jet baths, a lying-down bath and a cold bath. The water feels smooth and slightly slippery on the skin. It works as a stop on a longer drive. There is a restaurant, a large tatami hall where you can stay as long as you like, and free parking. The same grounds also have a fishing pond.
