Shirahama Ocean Resort sits at the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula, near the Nojima-zaki lighthouse, with sea views from every room. The indoor onsen bath is upstairs, one side each for men and women, looking straight out over the Pacific, so the light shifts from sunset to the lighthouse's beam at night to sunrise. It's compact and unfussy rather than a grand bathhouse, no rotenburo, no sauna, just a plain soak with a view. The water is brought in from Minamiboso Onsen, and bathing is for overnight guests only.
