Oyu Onsen Ashiyu

A footbath outside Yu no Eki Oyu (湯の駅おおゆ), the roadside station in Oyu Onsen. It is filled with onsen water from the Oyu area, which runs on the hot side, so the footbath can be warmer than you expect. Soaking is for feet only, and stripping off for a full bath is not allowed. Beside it is a warm-water splash pond for children (jabu-jabu-ike, 温泉じゃぶじゃぶ池), with the water diluted for little ones and open on weekends and event days. The station has a cafe, a shop and a car park, which makes this an easy stop on a drive. The water is drained outside opening hours, and the footbath is closed in winter while snow lies on the ground.
