A sodium-calcium chloride spring delivered from a tank blending four wells (No. 27 through 30). Hypotonic and neutral in pH, it is a salty, heat-retaining water with noticeable body and moderate mineralization. A generous 86.7 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves a thin silica film that makes the skin feel noticeably smoother.

About

Jizo-yu is one of Kinosaki Onsen's seven sotoyu (外湯), the town's communal public baths that locals use like their own bathroom. There is a single indoor bath, deep and kept fairly hot, plus a separate shallow, lukewarm pool for small children. There is no rotenburo and no sauna here. The water is the same salty spring shared across all seven Kinosaki outer baths. Upstairs is a tatami rest area. The name comes from a statue of Jizo said to have emerged from the bath's spring source; it now stands enshrined in the courtyard, and locals traditionally bow to it before bathing. The bath grew out of one used by area villagers in the Edo period, and every August the neighborhood's Jizo Bon (地蔵盆) festival is held here, when local elders give treats to the children.

27. Jizo-yu, Kinosaki Onsen, Hyogo ★ Onsen. Included in the hotel pass or in the pass for ¥1,500. Towel, small, ¥200, large rental ¥300 per day (you can return it at any onsen in Kinosaki). Inside, the layout is symmetrical, and in the center of the hall there is one large bath. The water is clear. The water is hot. There is also a non-hot children's bath. There were some cool old guys here, when a staff member came in, they started greeting him enthusiastically. And there was one tough old guy who lay down in the bath with his face in a towel on the railing and stayed like that in the water, in general when I left the bath he was still lying there (the water there is hot). A good place, I would say top 4 among the public onsen in Kinosaki, in my opinion. 30.12.2023
