About
A classic neighbourhood bathhouse tucked into a quiet corner of Akune, near the port. The bath is a single tub divided into two sides, one a touch hotter than the other, fed by a concentrated, salty spring. Eight wash stations line the room. The place is run as a side operation to the adjacent orthopedic clinic, and it is often unstaffed, so calling ahead is a good idea. In winter, bontan citrus baths appear on weekends and holidays. It is stop number 195 on the Kyushu 88 Hot Springs (九州八十八湯, Kyushu Hachiju-hachi-yu) pilgrimage circuit.
