Ichie is a ryokan at Nikaho Onsen in Akita with two large baths, Chokai-no-yu (眺海の湯, with a cypress tub) and Akane-no-yu (茜の湯), which swap by time of day. Each has an open-air bath outside, and the view takes in rice fields and the evening sun going down over the Sea of Japan. The water is soft and gentle on the skin. Six guest rooms have their own open-air bath. Day-use bathing (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) is open to non-guests, and there is a walk-in lunch, including a private-room lunch with a bath. It is a long-established inn, over a century old.
