Fukubikiya is a ryokan in Yomogihira (蓬平) onsen, a small spa valley in the hills of Nagaoka. The baths are separate for men and women, each with its own changing room, and the sulfur water feels soft and smooth on the skin. Day visitors can bathe at set times. The open-air bath is currently out of service because of equipment trouble. The valley has a legend of a dragon god who guided a wounded warrior to the spring in 1390, and Fukubikiya itself dates from 1869 (Meiji 2). For a long time the spring was a toji (湯治) place for people from nearby villages.
