Yomoyamakan

Yomoyamakan is a ryokan at Yomogihira Onsen in the mountains above Nagaoka, with a river running along the property. The two large indoor baths, one for each gender, hold real hot-spring water, and a ganbanyoku (岩盤浴) heated-stone corner sits next to them. Day-use bathing is accepted too, though it depends on how full the inn is that day. The building looks its age from outside, but the inside leans retro-modern, with art pieces scattered through the halls and an iris garden on the grounds. During dinner, a stage across the river hosts taiko (太鼓) drumming and traditional dance that guests watch from the dining room.
