Hida Hotel Plaza is a large hotel in Takayama with its own onsen source rather than water piped in from elsewhere. Guests have two separate bathing areas: an upper-floor bath with a large indoor bath, a tsubo bath, a mist sauna and an open-air bath looking out over the Hida mountains and Takayama's rooftops, and a tatami-floored basement bath with a cold plunge and a dry sauna. One special room type, Yuzan Kosho (遊山巧匠), has its own private onsen bath; every other room uses the shared baths. Bathing is for hotel guests only, with no day-use hours.
