Yuuparu is a town-run bathhouse and inn in Mitane, with an indoor bath, a bubble bath, a cool bath, a lukewarm bath and a mist sauna, though there's no open-air bath. The water is salty and tinged brown, from a spring that turned up while drilling for oil, kind to the skin and slow to let you cool down after a soak. One tub carries a light scent of hiba (ひば) wood, a small touch in an otherwise plain, functional building. The center also rents out thirteen simple rooms, two Western-style and eleven Japanese-style, with no meals served: guests use a shared kitchen with free cookware and tableware, and can rest afterward in a large tatami lounge.
