Sato no Yu is one of four day-use baths in the Hakuba Happo Onsen group, all fed from the same high-alkaline spring known locally for leaving skin silky-smooth. There's no open-air bath here, just a single indoor tub ringed by washing stalls, small and simple, the kind of place regulars call cosy rather than fancy. It opens only for the winter season, roughly late October through March 31, and has kept that rhythm since it opened in 1988. It's a short walk from the Nakiyama slope at Happo-one, so skiers often stop in for a soak after a day on the mountain. Payment is cash only, and tattoos are welcome, same as the other Happo baths.
