Ishiya Hot Spring Hotel

A modest old ryokan in the Tamayama area of Iwaki, with simple Japanese-style rooms and a large bath. The water is clear and a little slippery, and guests say it leaves the skin smooth. The inn is run by its proprietress and takes only a couple of groups a day, so it stays quiet. The building shows its age, with creaking floors and a Showa-era feel, and the meals of sashimi and home-style Japanese dishes get good words. Better suited to a calm adult stay than to anyone wanting polish.
