Jiyugaoka Hot Spring

This is a straightforward neighborhood bathhouse in Obihiro, with indoor bathing only and no rotenburo. The spring water is alkaline and smooth on the skin. Baths include a jet bath, an electric bath and a waterfall bath, utaseyu (打たせ湯), plus a dry sauna on the men's side and a steam sauna on the women's side. The cold bath is fed by a separate 200-meter well of cold mineral water that's safe to drink, and you can even take some home, up to 4 liters per person. There are two rest areas, one with tatami seating, for after your bath. A ramen shop next door connects directly into the building, though there's no restaurant on site. Wash stations are plentiful, but soap and shampoo aren't provided, so bring your own.
