Kokumin Shukusha Oshitate Onsen Sagi no Yu

A small, family-run kokumin shukusha (国民宿舎, a public-style lodge) in the hills of Inawashiro. The large onsen bath holds clear, colorless water that feels smooth on the skin and is on the mild side, easy to stay in for a long soak. Rooms are simple, meals are local and homely, and parking is free. The feel is old-fashioned and warm, and the hosts are known for helping guests with hiking trailheads and sights nearby. Day-use bathing (日帰り入浴, higaeri nyuyoku) has been reported by visitors.
