概要
緑山荘は乗鞍高原のほぼ中央に建つ、客室4室だけの小さな温泉民宿です。お風呂は貸切で使える露天風呂が2つと内湯が2つ、あわせて4つあります。浴槽はすべて総檜葉造りで、お湯は湯川の上流にある源泉から高低差だけを利用して引かれた源泉かけ流し。白く濁ったお湯には硫黄の香りとともに、クリーム色の湯の花が漂います。この湯の花は温泉の濃さの証で、昭和初期には乗鞍高原の主要な産業のひとつでもあり、今も名物のお土産として売られています。 露天風呂から見える景色は季節ごとに表情を変え、春は新緑、秋は紅葉、冬は雪景色を眺めながら湯につかれます。お食事は高原野菜や山菜を使った信州の家庭料理が中心で、部屋数が少ない分、宿の方の対応も細やかだと評判です。
