丸駒荘
Small family-run minshuku with a milky sulfur bath in Semboku
Uses natural hot spring water
Marukomaso is a small minshuku (民宿, family-run guesthouse) in the Mizusawa onsen area of Semboku, Akita. The shared bath is compact, and guests describe the water as milky white sulfur. The building is old and the toilets and washbasins are shared, but it is kept clean. Dinner and breakfast are generous and homemade, with local Akita ingredients. The okami (女将, the woman who runs the inn) is warmly remembered, and the whole place feels like a Showa-era family home. It is handy for the nearby ski area and as a base for climbing Akita-Komagatake.
