About
WOODY MOCK is a campsite in the Nagawa highlands (奈川高原) above Matsumoto, at 1,280 meters near the entrance to the Nomugi Pass (野麦峠) ski area. Alongside tent and RV sites and a few log cabins, it runs a small day-use hot spring, Shibusawa Onsen (渋沢温泉), with separate indoor baths for men and women. The water is clear, close to odorless, and feels soft and faintly silky on the skin, which is why locals rate it, and it tends to run a little on the warm side. Each side has just one tub, so it's a modest size rather than a grand bathhouse. Bring your own towel; shampoo, body soap and a dryer are provided. In winter a wood fire warms the lounge, and there's a tatami area where you can sit and cool down after bathing. The camp sits on the route toward the Northern Alps, Norikura, Kamikochi and Hida Takayama, so it doubles as a stopover for road trips as well as a base for solo campers and bikers passing through.
