YesDay-use hours run 17:00 to 22:00 on weekdays from April to November, and 16:00 to 21:00 from December to March; Saturdays and the day before a holiday, hours extend to 15:00 to 23:00. Closures are irregular, so it is worth calling ahead. The inn is also closed for winter break from November 15 to December 25.
Beyond the entry fee, a 150 yen per-person bathing tax is collected on site.

Sanso Watari is a small ryokan in Nagawa, a mountain hamlet near Nomugi Pass in Matsumoto, at roughly 1,300 meters elevation. The indoor and outdoor baths use clear, colorless spring water that feels smooth and silky on the skin, and the outdoor bath looks out over a birch forest that turns snowy in winter. Day-use bathing is available for a few hours each evening, though closures are irregular, so it is worth calling ahead. The inn itself is plain and a little old-fashioned, with all 14 rooms and no air conditioning. It is run by a Chinese couple, and reviews describe a largely international guest list drawn by the quiet, the mountain views, and the bath itself.
