A blended source combining the Shinyu No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 wells in the village of Nozawa Onsen, sampled at the inlet of the Shinyu community bathhouse rather than at the wellhead. The certificate classifies it as an alkaline simple sulfur spring: the water runs faintly milky and carries the soft rotten-egg note of hydrogen sulfide. Mineralization is light, so nothing about it bites — but the alkalinity delivers the slippery feel, and a generous helping of metasilicic acid backs it up, placing this squarely in Japan's beauty-water family.
