Hot water wells up through the gravel of the Yakunai river in the Akinomiya onsen area. There is no built bath: you dig your own foot pool in the riverbed with a shovel and soak your feet. It is a natural riverbed, so there are no showers, no changing screens and no soap. Usable roughly from May to November, depending on snowfall and melt.
