About
This ryokan sits in Akayu onsen, a spring town with a history going back over 900 years. Five of its rooms have their own open-air tub, a ceramic basin fed straight from the source, and there is also a shared bath with an indoor and an outdoor section looking onto the garden. The water carries a light saltiness and runs hot, with some guests noting a faint trace of sulfur in the air. Meals are served in a private dining room set aside for each party rather than a shared hall, and the inn itself dates back to the early Meiji era, with a quiet, old-fashioned feel that regulars come back for.
