Hohoemi-no-yado Takinoyu is a large ryokan in Tendo Onsen with two big communal baths, Beni-no-yu (紅の湯) for women and Ai-no-yu (藍の湯) for men, each with an indoor tub plus a small open-air bath. The water is soft and mild, billed by the inn as Tendo Onsen's bijin-no-yu (美人の湯, "beauty water"). Some room categories have their own open-air bath, some of them set on a rooftop terrace, with views toward Mount Gassan and Mount Hayama on a clear day, and there is a separate paid garden bath, Yu-an (湯庵), that overnight guests can book for a 50-minute private soak. It has an easygoing, family feel rather than a formal one, in Tendo Onsen, a hot-spring town also known for its shogi pieces and fruit orchards.
