Gassan Shizu Onsen Kashiwaya Ryokan

Kashiwaya is a small ryokan at Gassan Shizu Onsen, at the foot of Mount Gassan in Yamagata, and a common overnight stop for hikers heading up or down the mountain. The shared baths take day visitors for a few hours around midday. Guest rooms don't have their own bath, so everyone uses the communal bath. The kitchen leans on foraged mountain vegetables and river fish, and there's a drying room for wet rain gear after a day on the trail.
