A sodium-magnesium chloride-bicarbonate cold mineral spring drawn from beneath Asakusa in central Tokyo. At under 25 °C it is a cold-mineral source, heated for bathing, and the certificate records bubbles rising at the wellhead. The water is pale brown and clear — it carries 10 mg/kg of humic matter — and is almost tasteless and odorless. Mildly alkaline and soft on the skin, with bicarbonate softness layered over the salty base and a generous helping of metasilicic acid, it belongs to Japan's beauty-water family.

831. Onyado Nono Asakusa, Tokyo ★ Stayed overnight, did not use any facilities except the onsen. It is in Asakusa, very close to Sensoji. The bath photos are from the internet, and they match. It is the younger sibling of the neighboring Onyado Nono Asakusa Bettei, the name and facades are similar, but these are really different properties. Compared with Nono Bettei, Nono is simply more modest, the baths are more basic, the room is a little simpler, and the price is often lower, though not always. There is no standard higaeri, but you can use higaeri if you stay at Dormy Inn EXPRESS Asakusa. 1. Indoor area. Breathing inside is fine. 1.1. Bath with cloudy black water, temperature 41.5. 1.2. Sauna. 1.3. Cold bath. 2. Two barrels on a fully enclosed balcony, but in the open air. The water is clear, temperature 43. Worth keeping in mind if you need a hotel in Tokyo in a convenient location with interesting black water, and a lower price than Nono Bettei, which is relevant here. 17.01.2026 18.01.2026
