YesCheck in for day-use bathing at the 2nd-floor shop; after the shop closes, check in at the front desk instead. Admission may be limited or hours changed when the bath is busy.
Elementary-school-age kids pay 800 yen and preschoolers 500 yen; children age 2 and under bathe free. Prices may rise during peak season. A bath towel can be rented for 300 yen; a face towel is sold for 200 yen rather than rented.

The open-air bath sits right above the Takinoyu river, so you soak within earshot of the water. A separate indoor bathhouse has two hot-spring baths, and the men's and women's sides swap on a schedule, so four different bath combinations are available across the day. There are saunas as well, a dry sauna on one side and a mist sauna on the other, plus plenty of shower stalls. Three private family baths can also be booked. The water itself is colorless and clear, light on the skin. Day bathing is available too, and afterward you can get coffee and cake at the hotel's own lounge. The hotel stands at around 1,250 meters in the Tateshina highlands of Nagano and is set up for families: kids' rooms, a play park, and a free baby bath for children still in diapers, who aren't allowed into the main tub itself. Some rooms in the Riverfront Terrace category have their own open-air bath facing the river. The hotel is marking around 100 years since it first opened.
