About

Kounkaku sits on the highest ground in Dake Onsen, in Nihonmatsu. The baths are a large indoor bath and an open-air bath called Yama-no-yu (山の湯), plus a sauna and private baths that can be reserved. The spring water is an unusual acidic type for Japan, piped from the source. Two special guest rooms have their own onsen bath, one ceramic and one hinoki. Day-use bathing (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) is open to non-guests, and a day-use private bath package is available. There is a restaurant on site too.
