Every one of the 19 rooms at this Akayu ryokan has its own open-air bath, filled straight from the Akayu spring and kept flowing fresh. There are also shared baths separated by gender, and the spring water is approved for drinking. Akayu is an old onsen town said to have been opened more than 930 years ago, and the inn draws on that history. Dinner is served in the inn's restaurant, and on certain dates it can be had without staying the night, by phone reservation.
