YesReception for day-use bathing closes at 14:00 (last entry), and the outdoor bath itself only opens from noon. Day-use bathing may be suspended for maintenance on Tuesdays, and hours run differently during Golden Week, Obon and the New Year holidays.
Minami Sanriku town residents get a discounted rate, about half price, with proof of address. A face towel is sold for 220 yen, and a bath towel can be rented for 330 yen; neither is included in the admission price.

Minami Sanriku Hotel Kanyo is a big hotel on a bluff over Shizugawa Bay, on the Sanriku coast in Miyagi. Bathing is split across two wings: the outdoor rock baths, fed by hot-spring water drawn from 2,000 meters underground, sit right at the edge with an open view of the Pacific, close enough that gulls drift past. The women's side is shaped like a rock cave, the men's built around stone and greenery. A sauna sits next to the indoor bath in the east wing. Only the outdoor bath carries the spring water; the large indoor bath runs on heated tap water. Day-use bathing is open to non-guests, and children are welcome.
