Oyu Onsen Sekka no yu

Sekka no Yu (雪華の湯) is the communal bath (kyodo yokujo, 共同浴場) of Oyu Onsen village in Uonuma, a small building that looks fairly new. It has two tubs, both on the very hot side, and regulars do not cool them with water, so it suits people who like their bath hot. There is a shower and a few wash taps, but visitors are advised to bring their own shampoo. This is a bath locals use every day rather than a tourist stop. For day use (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) you buy a bathing tag (nyuyoku tegata, 入浴手形) at the inn directly opposite and leave it on top of your clothes while you bathe. Chatting with the neighbors who drop in is part of the experience.
