KKR Zao Shiroganeso

A 24-room inn in the middle of Zao Onsen, run under the KKR (国家公務員共済組合, civil-servant mutual-aid) lodging network and open to general guests. The baths use undiluted spring water with a faint sulfur smell, and there are two tubs, one hot and one a little cooler, though both run hot enough that children will struggle. Bathing is open around the clock apart from a daytime cleaning break. The building is older and plainly kept, with parking for 20 cars, and the ski slopes, the bus center and the ropeway are close by.
