A blended source: six Zao wells are brought together in a mixing tank and delivered as the south-district supply. The water is strongly acidic and sulfur-bearing, with sulfate and chloride giving it body — sharp enough to prickle on contact, strongly astringent on the tongue, and unmistakably scented with hydrogen sulfide despite running colorless and clear. Metasilicic acid reaches 226.5 mg/kg, leaving the kind of silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother afterwards. The house adds no water; in winter the bath may be recirculated and reheated for temperature control.
