915. Goshiki Onsen Wild Hot Spring (Goshiki Onsen Gensen Chitai), Niseko, Hokkaido ★ A wild onsen. At the beginning of April it was snowy, so we used snowshoes to get there normally. To the right of the Goshiki Onsen information center, cross the bridge and walk to Niseko Shrine. The shrine itself was half buried in snow. After that, we took a detour and walked for about 10 to 12 minutes through the snow to the low-lying area where the onsen itself is located. All along the way there were beautiful snowy natural views all around. In the low-lying area there is a spring, which then supplies water through pipes to Goshiki Onsen. Because of the hot water, the low-lying area itself is free of snow and bare of vegetation. There is the smell of proper onsen rot. All over the site there are various small puddles of onsen water, most of them too small for bathing. There is one puddle-bath large enough to partially immerse your body and enjoy the water from the hot spring. A shallow bath. A view of snowy hills all around. Before entering, the water is clear. The bottom of the bath is earth mixed with onsen lime, which rises when the bath is used and makes the water in the bath cloudy. Temperature was 39. A very atmospheric natural place. It would be better with a deeper bath. 08.04.2026
