About

A 43-room inn in the Himekawa valley, with separate large baths for men and women, each with an open-air bath. The water is soft and gentle, with little bite, and it spills over the tub edges fresh rather than being recirculated. The men's bath has water welling up from a big pot, and the women's bath is the one the inn pitches for smooth skin. Three private open-air baths sit in a separate building: a wooden one, a rock bath built from big river stones with a small Jizo statue, and a softer, steamy one. Day visitors can use them too for an extra fee, though there is no washing area in them, so wash in the main baths first. Day-use bathing (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) is open to non-guests, and parking is free.
