KYUKAMURA ECHIZEN-MIKUNI is a resort hotel on the Fukui coast near Mikuni, part of Japan's Kyukamura vacation village chain. Its garden rotenburo sits close enough to the sea that you can hear the waves, and the indoor bath looks out at the same view through a wall of glass. The onsen water runs faintly salty and warming on the skin. Day-use bathing is available alongside the overnight stay.
