Hattatsu

Hattatsu is a sauna inn in Minamisoma that takes one group per day and gives them the whole building. The sauna room is an earthbag sauna, where heat radiates from the earthen walls on all sides, and the cold plunge is filled with natural groundwater that runs slightly iron-rich. There are rest spots right by the plunge and a shrine-like corner, and guests can fill the tubs with hot or cool water however they like. The place is cluttered, handmade and always being added to, and visitors say it feels oddly like a relative's house, with the owner showing people around himself. Dinner uses Fukushima ingredients. Day visits are also possible as a private booking.
