Oyado Furuya is a small ryokan in Akakura Onsen, in Myoko. It has two large baths, each with an indoor tub and an open-air one: Tatami-no-yu (畳の湯), a rare bath with a tatami-mat floor, and Ishi-no-yu (石の湯), laid with Towada stone. Men and women swap baths in the evening, so guests get to try both. The water is piped straight from the spring and runs kakenagashi (掛け流し), and a few of the guest rooms have their own semi-open-air bath with the same water. Reviewers like the food and the staff, and mention that the building is old but has been renovated room by room. Day-use bathing is possible outside winter.
