The adult price is for junior-high age and up. Elementary-school children and preschoolers (ages 3 to 5) pay a lower rate, and children under 3 bathe free. A bath towel can be rented at the front desk; face towels are sold, not lent.

This large hotel sits in the forest above Biei, with a big indoor bath, a separate open-air bath, a sauna and a brisk cold plunge to switch between. The Japanese style and Western style baths swap during a stay, so overnight guests get to try both. The onsen water carries iron and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth, and among the several tubs, guests often single out a milder lukewarm one as the best of the lot. Day-trippers can bathe and eat lunch at the restaurant without booking a room, and there's a kids' corner for families.
