KKR Dogo Yuduki

KKR Dogo Yuduki is a hot-spring ryokan in a quiet corner of Dogo, a walk from the historic bathhouse district. The spring water has a local reputation for leaving skin silky smooth, and there are five tubs to work through: two rotenburo, two indoor baths and a reclining bath, alongside a sauna. Which side is which swaps between men and women every morning and evening. The two bath sides, Shiki-no-yu (子規の湯) and Soseki-no-yu (漱石の湯), each with an indoor and an outdoor tub, are named for Masaoka Shiki and Natsume Soseki, the two writers most tied to this city, and the source itself was built with Soseki's novel Botchan in mind. Rooms are plain tatami and twin styles rather than flashy, and reviewers describe a calm, well-kept inn with a solid Japanese breakfast. Day bathing is now open to non-guests by advance reservation.
