About
Yamami is a small family-run inn in Norikura Kogen, built around a single hinoki (檜) bath. There's no separate men's and women's side at all: the whole tub works as a free, unlimited-time private bath (kashikiri, 貸切), reserved just by turning a sign at the door. The water is milky white sulfur water from the local Norikura spring, kept flowing fresh rather than recirculated, with a faint sulfur smell and a color that turns cloudier once it settles in the tub. It's a quiet, homely place where the owner cooks with Shinshu (信州) ingredients, and guests often soak after a day out walking or skiing in the highlands nearby.
